How billing works

How the 1% is counted.

An app counts an order only when the order itself shows the app was involved. Here are the exact rules, with examples of what counts and what doesn't.

For every app

The rules every app shares

These apply on the free plan. The Studio plan has no usage charge at all.

The shared rule
  • The amount is the order subtotal after discounts, before tax and shipping, in your store currency. NextBatch uses only the subscription lines.
  • The fee is 1% of that amount, rounded to the cent.
  • Once per order. An app never counts the same order twice.
  • Refunds reverse the fee in proportion. Refund half the order and half the fee comes back.
  • Development and test stores are never charged.

Check every counted order

Each app has a Billing page inside Shopify admin. It shows your plan, what was counted this cycle and your fee, and lists every counted order with its order number, the amount counted and the fee.

If an order on that list looks wrong, email him@thejamiefarrell.com with the order number and I will look into it.

How it shows up on your Shopify bill

You don't pay me directly. Shopify bills app charges together with your regular Shopify bill, and each app appears separately.

On the free plan, the 1% is a usage charge for that app, added up over the billing cycle. Charges are reported to Shopify shortly after each order, and a daily check catches anything missed. On the Studio plan there is one flat $29 charge every 30 days.

Uninstalling stops an app from counting new orders right away. An order the app counted before you uninstalled can still appear on your final bill.
